What to Do When You Don’t Know What to Do
Just start typing
Sometimes the best thing you can do is just let yourself unload.
When you don’t know what to do, what to say, or how to function, just start typing.
If you’re a writer, the best thing that you can do is write — about all of it. About the ups, the downs, the unexpected twists, the 180-degree turns in the road, the mountains you’ve climbed, and the ones you’ve fallen off of.
Write about the good times. Write about the bad times. Write about the heartbreak, the sorrow, the confusion, the fear, the frustrations, and those moments where it literally feels like you’re walking on sunshine.
Especially, though, write about what you’re learning through it all. Share your insights, how you’re growing, and what life is showing you through your experiences.
Life is wild — and it’s meant to be that way.
We won’t always know how to handle it, so maybe the key is just to write through it.
Let your writing help you process it all.
Let it be the constant in your life that you turn to through all things, and in all states.
Happy or sad, on cloud nine or in the depths of despair, your writing practice can handle it all.
So let it.
