Many Opportunities Are Just Distractions in Disguise
Don’t let them derail you by jumping at every chance
Sometimes, what seems like a great opportunity on the surface can quickly become nothing more than an obstacle keeping you from your ultimate goal—the one that continues to get buried underneath the ever-growing pile of distractions.
I have always had a problem with this.
My problem is the classic one of trying to take on too much … which usually leads to accomplishing nothing at all.
Sound familiar?
It always starts out innocently enough.
I think to myself, Well, I might as well take on some more paying work so that I have a bit of steady income coming in while I focus on building my writing career.
But inevitably, I soon end up dedicating all my focus and energy to those side jobs, all but abandoning my intention to write and publish daily. Before I know it, another three months have passed, and I’m no further along with my writing.
This is a mistake.
And unfortunately, it’s one that’s so easy to make that I keep doing it, over and over again!
