Many years ago, I read a book called “The ONE Thing.”

As the book’s subtitle reads, it’s about “the surprisingly simple truth behind extraordinary results,” written by Gary Keller, co-founder of Keller Williams Realty, Inc.

I was doing some freelance work for Keller Williams at the time, and this book popped up in interviews and recommendations so many times that I finally couldn’t ignore it any longer. I borrowed a copy of the book and sat down to read it.

There’s no question that it was a good book with some great insights based on research and the real-world experience of Gary Keller. But I have to admit that I didn’t quite “get it” the first time around. And of course, I only realized this in hindsight, after reading it for a second time just recently.

The second time around, I discovered that what I thought was just a great book was actually more like a manual on how to approach life so that you can accomplish what matters most to you. This book helped me unlearn some of the unhelpful beliefs I’d picked up about productivity, and taught me some valuable lessons about what productivity really is and how you can make it work for you.
