A Silly Story about Doing Things That Scare You
The day I faced “The Curse of the Shaky Leg”
They say you should do one thing every day that scares you.
Supposedly it’s because confronting your fears and overcoming them is the only way to grow as a human being.
I like to think I’ve always been one for challenging myself; whether that’s true or not is a different story. As a child, I was usually game for trying new things — sticking with them, however, wasn’t my strong suit. I was also a pretty picky eater, preferring to stick to the foods I knew were safe and delicious.
Throughout my 20s, though, I started branching out a lot, trying many new things, seizing opportunities for travel and adventure every chance I got. I spent two years living in Korea, and eating unfamiliar foods almost daily became my new norm.
Now I enjoy tasting new foods and trying every kind of beer I can get my hands on, wherever I am in the world.
I’ve done things I never thought I could, and I’ve had experiences I only dreamed of having in the past.
All of these things were scary before I did them.
Only now that I’ve tackled them can I see that they were all worthwhile in their own way. Whether it was…
