I’ve been extremely fortunate to have incredible adventures over the years.

From road trips with my family as a kid to volunteering in Guyana to teaching English in South Korea to long-distance hiking along the Camino de Santiago, I’ve eagerly soaked up everything I could in each new place I went.

Travel has always mesmerized me.

It’s kind of like magic. And the older I get, the more magical it becomes.

Maybe it’s because I’m more aware of how many moving parts come together to make something like an airport function the way it does, or how many people it takes to make the machine run smoothly and relatively on schedule. Maybe it’s because I’ve experienced how vast the oceans really are when flying over them for 8 hours at an average speed of nearly 1000km per hour.

Realizing these things has a way of putting life into perspective like nothing else can.

Each time I travel, I’m reminded once again of these three truths about life.

1. Life goes on without you (even when you think it shouldn’t)
